“I won money on a scratcher!”

When people ask how I became a wedding photographer slash videographer, this is it!

Pretty crazy right? I was a Respiratory Therapist going about my day (home care, visiting patients) when I stopped at a 7-11 here in Southern California. I needed money from the ATM but it was being replenished by a guard truck so I went inside to get a drink and a scratcher. Got back in my car and scratched away in the parking lot. When I scratch a scratcher I don’t like to reveal the prize. I only reveal the numbers. I had a number match. No big deal. Usually its another free ticket or the price of the ticket. I slowly scratched the price to find a few zeros and a comma. I freaking won $20,000! I cried! Never had that much money at one time. It was 2014 at the time and I planned on buying a dinky little camera to just kinda mess around but with this ticket I was able to buy a pro camera and start my journey, which, 6 years later has brought me here! Hundreds of weddings, three magazine appearances (The knot 2 times and Rock & Roll Bride), featured on Martha Stewart Weddings, Green Wedding Shoes and so so much more! It’s crazy right!? I’ve traveled the world shooting weddings! All because of a freaking scratcher haha!

Now that you know how I got here ima let you in on my personal life. I got married right when I turned 18 and have been for 15 freaking years now! My wife Harmony is legit the best thing that’s ever happened to me. We have three kids, Symphony, Melody and Rhythm and ya ya… Im just Joey. I’ve known my wife since I was 12 so it’s really just a dream to me that she chose me to spend the rest of our lives together.

When i’m not living the husband-dad-work-life i’m usually skateboarding (have been all my life), surfing, crossfitting, riding bikes and playing video games. My favorite food is sushi, i’ve even got a sushi tattoo haha! Also love a good burrito. Sandwiches are amazing too. OH and cereal, god I love cereal… Okay all food is amazing.

I want you to know that this is my life. My passion. I absolutely love shooting weddings. This profession chose me and I legit am so freaking grateful for it.

Now lets get to booking!
